A Quarantined Mother’s Day

May 5, 2020 by Melissa Leave a Comment

Mother’s Day is this weekend! Wow! I actually am surprised I even knew that fact because normally I am not sure what month or day I am in. HAHA! Each day looks like the last in quarantine but we are having fun in the Bair House! I thought I would share some of my ideas of what “A Quarantined Mother’s Day” will look like here. Also, a BONUS for mom’s and women is this SELF CARE Calendar. Print it out and take care of YOU this month!

NUMBER ONE:

There will be NO COOKING! This is a rule for any Mother’s Day. No chores either!

My plan is to either have the kids pick out the meals ahead of time or I will secretly print out the recipes and make sure the items are in stock in the Bair Pantry. Depending on your kids ages they can make it on their own or get Dad’s help. The kids and Dad will feel a sense of pride in their abilities to help you out and the love of cooking might carry on after this day as well. 🙂 Have breakfast in bed, a picnic at lunch and maybe dinner and a movie at night!

Another option is to order in all day! Let the kids pick and surprise you! Okay, so meals are set! No cooking and no cleaning up also a go! Look at this clean kitchen all day long!

NUMBER TWO:

There needs to be a CRAFT.

I am all about making memories I can look back on. Normally we travel to my favorite place, Color Me Mine, to have the kids decorate a precious item for my kitchen. This year I ordered a rock painting kit! If you already have paint in the house, you can also just get these flat rocks to paint. We are going to enjoy making these rocks beautiful, inspiring and positive! Then we will lay them outside near our mailbox, for those walking by to see and put a smile on their faces! *These links are Amazon Affiliate Links. If you need to purchase these items it also helps with running this website if you order through these links. Thank you!

NUMBER THREE:

Why not make a fun SPA DAY at home!

This is a secret way for you to get a quiet Epsom salt bath in and maybe even a nap! Paint nails, let them do your make up, and hair. Let them pick out a fun outfit for you too. You MUST wear what they pick out! Now you are ready to go out into the world! 😉

NUMBER FOUR:

Get ACTIVE!

Go out for a bike ride or walk. Pull the old jump rope out or roller blades! Get creative with some chalk and draw a giant maze, or town. A must is to leave the phone at home. Be PRESENT and be a KID!

BONUS:

If you need a gift for your mom or one to treat yourself, here is an awesome way to always remember “The One Where We Were Quarantined” with a MUG. I purchased this mug from Etsy. The picture is from Retta Tees Etsy page where I got it for my mom. I am a HUGE Friends fan and grew up watching the show with my mom. It was a perfect gift! I totally need to buy myself one too!

I hope some of these ideas help make your Quarantined Mother’s Day special! Just remember, let your day take you where it goes! Don’t try to control the day. I like to have some ideas but truly allow the day to flow and have no set plans. 🙂

To stressing less and playing more,

Melissa 🙂
