Do you want to build a snow family??

January 14, 2018 by Melissa Leave a Comment

We recently had a BLIZZARD that brought over 8 inches of snow to our beach town. This is not the normal winter we are used to, but we enjoyed it! As a parent, is is easy to have the kids play outside in the snow while we sit in the warm house watching the them through the window. I believe memories are stronger when the whole family is part of the activity. So, I make a point to get out and be involved with the kids. Snow brings the kid out in me, making it easier for me to bundle up and go play myself. I grew up in Texas and we very rarely saw snow, so I get pretty excited about it!

The snow has to start melting to get it to become snowman building snow though. So around the low 40’s is when you will notice you can roll a ball and it just collects snow super fast. It is pretty amazing! Here is my 4 year old rolling his body of his snowman.

It took less than an hour to gather all the snow balls, large and small, to create our snowman family. Each kid made their own and then I made a mommy and decided to make the daddy into a bear. A play off of our last name Bair. He was a huge hit with the kids!

My three snowmen. The blue and white scarf is actually the one I used when I was a kid building my Texas snowmen! I love how each one shows my kids personality.

My oldest, who is 10 years old, created our cat Izzy in snow. She used the coal to make the snow black to create her facial features and shadows.

Myself standing by my two works of art! I was having so much fun with the kids.

A close up on the snow bear. He was the talk of the neighborhood.

Now you have some ideas for the next time it snows by you! The kids are already sharing ideas of making a snow horse and a snow dog. We will see!! Share any of your works of snow art below to give us some more ideas!
