A great hearty pasta sauce our whole family loves. The tradition is to leave the bay leaves in the sauce and whoever finds them has to do the dishes. Thank you Papa Dean for letting me share your sauce.
Ingredients
1½ pounds ground chuck, OR 2 pounds ground turkey (I used turkey)
1 pkg mild Italian sausage (optional, my husband cooks his on the side to add in)
Olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
mushrooms (optional, we do not use)
4-5 cloves garlic, minced OR 2-3 Tbsp. garlic powder
1 14 oz can Tomato Sauce
2 14 oz cans water
1 12 oz can tomato paste
¾ - 1 tsp Italian Seasoning

Add tomato past and 14 oz can of water.
Add seasonings (Italian, oregano, and black pepper)
Add two bay leaves
Simmer at slow bubble for 2.5 - 3 hours.
