Mother’s Day Fun

May 13, 2018 by Melissa Leave a Comment

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mommy’s out there!! Being a mother is a full time job that never ends, even when the kids grow up and move out, we will still be worrying and thinking about them.

Moms do not get holidays or weekends off. It is a job that has many hats that can sometimes make us feel like we are out of control but then we have those super rewarding moments that make it all worth it. We try our best and that is what counts. So stop comparing yourself to others! You are doing an amazing job!! It is hard raising human beings!!

One thing I DO NOT do on Mother’s Day is cook! Nope!! I do not even go into the kitchen. I  let my To-Do list take a day off and my mind stop thinking about it. I also make no plans, so the day can become what it wants to become. (I also try and do this every Saturday during the year.)

I personally enjoy sleeping in, getting the many homemade cards from the kids and relaxing with the family.

A few ideas of things I have done wth the kids in the past is to get plates or mugs made with their handprints. I absolutely LOVE these memories and plan to one day have them hanging in my farm kitchen.

If your family enjoys giving you flowers, ask for a potted plant instead. This is a great way to enjoy the flowers for years to come and create a fun tradition of planting a new one with the kids each year.

If any gifts are involved, it should be something that improves your self care. As moms we do not invest in ourselves enough! So a nice massage, an hour of time alone to relax your mind by doing something that brings you joy (for me that is time at the barn), or an afternoon nap with no interruptions sounds nice too!

Here are a few more ideas if you are looking for a gift for your mom or for yourself!

Crazy Sexy Love Notes – A great message each day to focus on the present and being grateful!

131 Method Book – Learn what your body needs to gain more energy and be the healthiest!

Lavender Epsom Salt – Great for a bath to release toxins but also destress from the day. I try to do this once a week but a perfect gift to do on Mother’s Day.

Yes, this is one day to celebrate but remember to celebrate YOU everyday with even the smallest joys that happen around you. When we focus on the positive we see more positive. ❤️ Have a wonderful Mother’s Day!!

To stressing less and playing more!

Melissa 🙂
