My 131 Method Journey – Introduction

March 15, 2019 by Melissa Leave a Comment

I joined the 131 Method before it was even public. I have always been a Chalene Johnson follower. She gave me amazing shoulder muscles and abs in PiYo. She is hilarious to follow on social media but is also genuine and real. She learned about her own health with some blood tests she got back and found out she had a lot to learn herself with nutrients and taking care of her body. She decided to create a way to share what she was learning with all of us through her 131 Method. I have seen this evolve into something amazing and it keeps growing with more and more information through articles, interviews, and scientific research she shares through the 131 Method program. She even put the program into a BOOK! You also get recipes and meal plans that go along with what you are incorporating each week. The 131 Method program builds each week, you start with baby steps and I need that in my life right now. Short and simple and to the point with research to back it all up! I am all about “knowledge is power” ever since being a Girl Scout. So learning and evolving with what I can do to take care of the one body I have, is a passion of mine.

I started my first cycle through the three month program back in November 2017. I have done two more since. I decided to share my journey this fourth time around by blogging about it. I see it as great accountability and I do not want to hold back sharing what this program has done for me. For many years I have been struggling with fatigue, bloating, extreme sugar cravings and hormone issues. The 131 Method drew my attention to my gut health being WAY out of wack! Through learning about my body and improving my gut health, I now have more energy, no more bloating, I can say no to sugar, and my drastic hormone changes before my time of month have went away! Woohoo!! My husband is happy about that last one!

I am improving each time I go through the 131 Method program and I love how it is about living your best life for YOU! You learn to listen to YOUR body and find out what foods your body likes and what foods it does not like. It is designed to create your own nutrition plan around your findings. There is so much support in the chat group with others on the journey with you too. I am pumped!!

Another thing I love about the 131 Method is it isn’t overwhelming!! I get stressed easily and when there is too much information coming at me, I shut down fast. She gives you one thing a day to read or listen to. During the introduction week, we had an introduction to the program, what to do before you start, taking before pictures, how to navigate the program and get the shortcut onto your phone. It starts to get you into the mindset to put yourself first and gets you excited for the first stage!

The warm weather is starting and I am feeling more excited about feeling good in my skin with the summer months ahead. I want to be excited to put that swim suit on and jump in the pool with the kids. If you are interested in this program feel free to ask me any questions about my journey. It has helped improve my gut health, my energy levels and took away my stress with what to eat! It is always important to grow in our knowledge about our bodies!

It is all about stressing less and playing more in life! This is a great first step! You got this!
